Hi, I’m Mary Casey and I operate Primary Focus out of my home in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  In 1994 I received my B.A. degree in Education from California State University in Long Beach, California.  I worked in the Long Beach Unified School District as a fifth-grade teacher for a few years where I saw both US-born and foreign-born learners struggle with basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills in a traditional classroom environment.  After moving to Maine with my family I knew that I wanted to help beginning learners get a strong start so that they could enter the primary grades with confidence and excel both academically and socially.  Primary Focus opened its doors in 2008 and I have been exploring, creating and learning with young learners ever since.
